Moving out of our parent's house is a big decision that comes with its fair share of challenges. At first, the newfound freedom is exhilarating. No more curfews. No more complaints about the dishes. Then reality hits us. We have responsibilities that drain energy, time, and money from us. It can be a hassle to keep up with them. But if we do, then we can live our lives in a better, balanced way.

Randy Love finds himself in a similar situation. He has a pending business degree at the University of Brighton, lives with his father, and is unemployed. We follow his journey across multiple jobs and apartments. He is young, confident, and charming: qualities that have employers and ladies impressed by him. However, he refuses to take responsibility for his actions. His selfish tendencies, poor planning, and lack of common sense land him in unbelievable circumstances time and time again. As he struggles to find his footing in the world, one can only ask: is there hope for Randy Love? In spite of these mistakes, can he learn anything from them and rectify his ways?

Randy the Irresistible by S M Goodier is a captivating tale. I like how it's written in a relaxed, easy-to-read manner. It uses British English and slang. I like the latter, as I am not familiar with British slang. If you are like me, some of the terms may seem strange at first. However, Goodier was kind enough to include an ‘Index Of British Terminology And Slang’ section at the back of the book. It expounds on the many unfamiliar terms making it easier to digest the story.

Another aspect I like about the book is character development. Both Randy and the secondary characters are well developed. Through their interactions with one another, speech, and emotions, I found it easy to differentiate them. Michael Goddard, in particular, was my favorite. His technique of baiting people to debate with him and then proceeding to help them structure their theories well, albeit in an antagonizing way, was delightful to read.

Descriptions are vivid. I like how they kept me yearning for more. I also like the humor. I enjoyed smiling as I read on. I love the flow of the story as well. Goodier integrates backstory beautifully into this tale. It is enough to fill in the gaps and is not overwhelming. The storyline is also good. I enjoyed tagging along on Randy’s journey. Each chapter looks like a snapshot of a different part of Randy’s life, but they are all connected.

Randy the Irresistible also has some profanity and erotic scenes. Because of this, I recommend this book to mature readers only. I did not find anything negative about the book. The editorial team did a good job, as I only found a handful of errors that did not hinder my reading. Randy the Irresistible is an enjoyable novel. I recommend it to lovers of slow-paced stories that contain romance, some profanity, and a lovable main character. I rate it 4 out of 4 stars for entertaining me and capturing my attention from start to finish.
