Review of Randy the Irresistible
Randy can best be described as a love child. He is the last of three children and if we go by his parents' original ideas, he definitely was not part of their long-term plan. It is very likely that this, and the loss of his mother at an early stage in his life are the reasons behind his general lack of discipline and refusal to take responsibility for his own actions. Randy and his merry band of friends make it a regular habit of haunting the bars and nightclubs, leaving a trail of broken hearts and sometimes physical destruction in their wake. This only serves to add to his father's growing fear that his last offspring may never amount to much. One day, Randy decides to make an attempt at making something out of his life to prove to himself and his family that there is more to him than meets the eye.
Randy The Irresistible is a coming of age story filled with the quirky humour and romantic drama you can expect to find in a book by S M Goodier. Set in the British Isles, it is full of that unique blend of British humour and culture which only a truly inquisitive reader can fully appreciate.
I absolutely fell in love with the language style used in the book by the author. There is so much typical daily British slang in the conversations in the story that gives it an authoritatively authentic air. The characters in the book are simply beautiful to read about. Their backstories vary from the comedic to the downright unbelievable. The part about the mother who tries to cash in on her child's future keeps on replaying in my head. The author should be given credit for attaching a glossary on the British slang used in the story at the end of the book. It is guaranteed to help a wider audience who are not familiar with British street parlance to enjoy the storyline much better.
I did not find any aspect of the book which I disliked. There are some erotic scenes in the book that some may find uncomfortable, but then that is a matter of the reader's opinion.
Romance genre readers will definitely enjoy the contents of this book. Randy's encounters with the different women he comes across are noteworthy, to say the least. Fiction genre readers will equally enjoy this book with its thrilling storyline.
Randy The Irresistible comes across as a particularly interesting work of fiction by S M Goodier. The storyline is entertaining and the editing is very professional as I could detect only one error in the book. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars
