Shea R Embry's The Weed Lady is a thrilling novel that takes us on a journey with an adventurous group of friends as they share moments of their lives. Their lives take a terrific path when 'the weed lady' comes into their lives. They realize that their lives are not so different from hers. Jesi's life is most affected by their new friend. Jesi, Nicole, Rachael, and Jules share a bond so strong that Jesi does the unexpected to pacify them when she hurt them and this act sets their life in a new direction. Their friendship is one bound by love, memories of Aunt Mary Opal, and lots of secrets. Follow the stimulating story of these friends as they attain self-realization, make new friends and family, and find out secrets that they hid from each other.

I like how these friends support one another. For instance, when Jesi begins a blog secretly, Nicole and Rachael support her regardless. I like how Shea R Embry develops each character and gives them a peculiar trait; Jesi is easily identified as strong-willed and somewhat brattish although she changes with the circumstances presented in the novel. I also like that Cynthia and George become an essential part of their lives regardless of how they came into their life. Most importantly, I love the fact that Embry adopts a great female character lead. I reckon that I have learned through this book the importance of keeping relationships and not judging a person from afar either by their appearance or attitude until you get to know their story.

However, I wish that Cynthia's character wasn't so controlled/suppressed and that George didn't have to leave the neighborhood. Nevertheless, I didn't dislike anything about the book. I think that Embry did a very good job in the plot and narration of the story.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. It doesn't seem to be professionally edited, and I found some typographical errors while reading. I think that an author ought to professionally edit their books. However, the diction used in the novel is comprehensive and effectively communicates the author's idea to the reader.

I recommend this book to anyone who loves the idea of a thrilling female lead character and seeks a good read novel that is somewhat thematic to our daily life. I also think that anyone who is seeking to strengthen their bond with their family or friends would find this book inspiring.
