Strong heart by Sidney sheldon is a fictional, adventurous story set up in Olympic National Park to the shores of Atlantic Coast. Its about a 13year old orphaned girl Sara Cooley on a path of self-discovery and self- acceptance dropped at her grandfather's doorstep Tom who is even unaware of her existence planning an excursion.Tom wants to return an artefact he feels should be left in its native place in the company of his friends William and his daughter Myra from Haida Gwai. But there also seems to be a great challenge in a company that wants to mine erbium out of this very park and ironically build a center for Human dispersal about first settlers on land after ice age.
Sara is defiant, grouchy about hiking trip but as plot takes shape and character development she turns out to be the leader of pack and strong heart. The book continues capturing readers interest as we begin to see the magical wonder of atlalt and park as Myra promises Sara, a land full of legend, magic, history, myth coupled with unique fauna and flora.Sara captures image of shortface bear with her excellent sketches believed to have existed at least 12000 years ago. They are all skeptical and don't believe her and when Tom displays the artefact Sara sketches it too and all are enchanted, Tom in view of bigger picture wants it dated and it's radioactivity known.
The book is educative as it teaches significance of artefact in the early civilisations, it's velocity, power, penetrative power through hide, skin, bones of animals the mastodons, saber cats, bears weighing upto 2000 pounds. The readers interest is picqued to learn what atlalt is carved out of,what tools the natives used.Sara experiences a vision back in time and she walks, lives in time of the ancients as group looks for her lost for 8 days. The positive aspects is author crystallises 20 ice ages equivalent to 2,000,000 years into a single book.We are dared to merge legend with archaeological findings and conclusions as Sara narrates her story. The readers emotions are stoked in this story even to tears as she shares her adventure, her calloused hands, her encounter with beasts sleepless nights canoeing, how do they survive without hospitals, sophisticated measurements of time as we do today, when to travel from East to West with limited resistances favourable weather, least exposures to animal attacks in the beast infested shores and jungles.
Another positive aspects is her growing skill of use of darts, aiming shots at adversaries for her size and age and is even able to pin down Buckhorn's group.
The book can't be put down by reader and drives us to the edge of our seats as we are caught in a suspense curious to know fate of atlalt how do they check out of forest and what happened to her companions. It culminates into an ending leaving reader looking for a new chapter or excited about next book in such series
It has zero sexual content making it an excellent read for audiences as young as young teens to no upper age limit.
No religious content exhibited meaning it can be read by people from all walks of life.
Having little or no grammatical errors or typos I give it a 3 out of 4
