Man Mission by Eytan Uliel is a story about four blokes who come together and take it upon themselves to explore the world away from their daily "normal" once every year. Away in the wild hiking, cycling or even river kayaking gives them adrenaline rush and high levels of testosterone doing arduous outdoor activities. The book's protagonist goes on to give an account of stories on Man Mission involving expeditions between him and his friends. What came up as an idea then a dream while in university, the protagonist and his friend Sam came to build it to reality as an annual event. They come up with a Man Mission committee and rules that guide them. They come up with traditions like the pink bracelet that one has obligingly wear if they ever acted girlish while out on their expeditions. What the committee advocated was manliness and acting out of your own power. Exploring new different places and meeting new people gives them a sense of purpose and more so socialism.

I like how the author gives vivid description of events in the book. It gives the reader a sense of familiarity with the characters and the entirety of the book. I like how humor is depicted in the book. I also like how the author has led us through the protagonist' life fifteen years down the line. We see his ups and downs as he builds his family with his wife Rachel. This comes with the emergence of kids, waves of responsibilities, tiredness and exhaustion at all times. Pressure, lack of fulfillment, work and stress plunge him into darkness which eventually leads to the breakage of his marriage. We follow him up the story through his emotional breakage and trauma till he eventually picks himself up and moves on. I like how the book is inspiring in that it gives one courage to act upon his or her desires regardless of the consequences and just be happy.

The book is captivating and interesting to read. It keeps one on the loop in want and need of more of the book and the Man Mission stories. I don't think there is any negative point to it.

Generally, the flow and storyline of the book are superb, giving the read yearning to read the book. I will give it a four out of four stars rating considering its exceptional editing.

The book tails around adventure, fun, happiness, euphoria and finding oneself in between. I would recommend it to those that like adventure and are curious to explore the world, other cultures, food and interact with new people from all walks of life.

Mentioning the end of their marriage might have spoiled the book for someone like me. I enjoyed your review though—clear writing.
