Ironing by Navajo is a story based in London. Emma, Royanda, and Ginie are on a London bus heading to the dog's competition. On the bus, many people's stories are told. Mrs. Winston believes that all men are not true to what they say. She states this after Royanda is dumped over text by her boyfriend. Mrs. Caitlyn, who is also involved in a conversation with the girls, introduces a whole new story in the book on child abuse. The journey on the bus is a long and eventful one as more people board the bus. As they proceed, many topics arise including religion, climate change, racism, marriage, friendship, and even the search for justice in Mr. Campbell's story. Emma and her friends had envisioned having a nice college night out but they land in big trouble. Will they escape this or will they be engulfed in this mysterious night?

This is an interesting story that can be read at any time of the day. It is also short, precise, and offers a variety of stories both related and non-related. I could not, however, enjoy the book fully due to several negative aspects. I did not like the conversation style used in the book. The conversation was hard to keep track of and one can be easily lost in the reading of the book. The conversation between the three friends, Emma, Royanda, and Ginie, at the beginning of the book, was too formal and did not appear to be between three friends who have known each other for a while. The author also included many characters in the book but they lacked originality and a good foundation which makes it hard to interpret some of the characters.

The book provided many diverse stories that had different themes. These stories, however, had nothing to separate them. One paragraph would give a different story and the next paragraph would be dealing with a completely different story. Some of the stories also included newspaper articles and I was not able to decipher where this article ended or whether I was reading another new story. This is an aspect that could be corrected for the comfort of the reader. A sense of humor was also included in the book, making it more interesting. This, however, came to a point where the author included repetition of phrases that became monotonous. The story depicts Emma as a bright girl in the story. She introduces many topics in their conversation that bring a new perspective of thought to the reader. These three friends also depict friendship at a newer level with the way they care for each other even when one of them is in trouble.

I rate Ironing by Navajo 2 out of 4 stars. I did not give it a higher rating because I think this book does not deal with some of the aspects it talks about. this book could also do with another round of editing as it does not have any chapters and the story continues to the end of the novel. The author also noted at the beginning of the book that proves that this book was not professionally edited. I also found a couple of errors in the book and this made me give the book a low rating. I however did not give the book a much lower rating as this book was an experimental super realist fiction and the author did a good job in depicting this aspect. The author also balanced the book despite having many characters.

Ironing is a good read that would be entertaining to many readers. I recommend this book to adults as some of the content is not suitable for children. I would, however, advise readers who undertake on reading this book, to be aware of some disturbing scenes. It would be better if any reader considers this before commencing to read the book.
