Mike Boudreaux is a trauma surgeon in the New Orleans. His mentor cum friend, Clayton Otherson has started making some life threatening mistakes. As the chief of service Mike needs to take strong disciplinary actions against Otherson. But he keeps refusing his mistakes and impairments which complicates the whole situation in the hospital. Meanwhile Otherson's wife-Catherine and Mike start falling for each other. There are complications in their(Otherson and Catherine) marriage and she is afraid that her daughter, Mellisa is not safe around him.

The Surgeon's Wife is a very quick and easy read. The author, William H. Coles has described about each and every character befittingly. The book has many exciting twists. It has a full on drama till the end. Each scene has been impresively detailed, and well written. It is a mixture of romance, thriller and violence. From drugs to suicide to obesity treatment to romance, it is a roller coaster ride. I quite liked the book. It held on my attention for most of the part.

Sometimes it seems a little out of track from the main plot. It requires a little more proofreading. The first 10 chapters were a little boring and off the flow for me as it just revolves around the hospital and medical line. It grew much more interesting after that.

I have a mixed feeling for the book. I would rate it a 2 out of 4. I would have given half marks more (if allowed) as the dialogue writing was excellent. It was an unpredictable read and makes you sit till the very end. It has a very shocking and at the same time surprising ending.

It would be a great read for those who love drama with a lot of twists and turns. It would be a 4/4 read for those who are looking for a quick and easy medical drama book with a little romance.
