The Narrow Gate by John Servant is a book that gives an insight into the life of Joe, a lawyer and politician with a humble beginning before he got carried away by power and fame. His love for luxury and his compromise on his beliefs, led him down a destructive path which led to the death of his only son Joey and his separation from his wife.

The book also tells about an excellent nun, Sister Francis, Joe's principal when he was in high school, who continually prayed for him and his family when they were going off morally. She didn't stop at praying but also sent occasional warning to Joe to change his ways. When everything got awry for Joe and he was slipping into depression, she was there for him and did her best to make sure he got closer to God by reforming his ways.

The Narrow Gate also talks about John Kelly a journalist for a major metropolitan newspaper who was asked by the Editor of the Newspaper to cover the story of a politician named Joe. Although at first the thought of covering the story displeased him, but on his arrival to where Joe was, he found more than a story which changed his life for good.

The Narrow Gate is a book that tells a message of hope and believe in God. It teaches morals and the vanity of power and luxuries of the world. It portrays the life of a man from a humble background, who got carried away by his quest for power, fell from grace and retraced his steps to God. Although he missed it along the way, he became a good man doing charity in his last years even till death.

This book is a 3 out of 4 .
It is a book that helps a person reflect on their life and teaches the joy in serving others and getting closer to God.
I recommend that everyone reads this book because it is beneficial to all, even if we do not have the same beliefs and faith of the author.
There are some typos and minor mistakes in the book, other than that the book is well edited with no profanities and erotic scenes.
