Karinya, by Paul Drewitt, is a book about two youthful teens that are in a relationship and live in poverty. The book describes the horrid circumstances of the main characters as well as the culture of the town the characters reside in. The main characters want a better life as most people do. Kirra, a main character, finally has a chance to try and make a change to the culture of the town. In the begging of the book, she thinks of herself as a crusader for justice, and at the end of the book, she becomes a crusader for justice. The character development throughout the book is delightful and fascinating. I would recommend this book to people that have had similar circumstances of poverty or have been in situations of injustice.

The appeal of making changes for the betterment of society was what I liked most about the book. The book did not have a single dull moment. The characters always had something going on. The characters could experience the best time of their lives, and in the same day, they could experience the worst time of their lives. The reader could feel the emotions of the characters as all of the events transpired.

On the other hand, what I disliked most was the numerous grammatical mistakes throughout the book. The mistakes diminished the overall quality. If the book had been edited professionally, this book could have been a more enjoyable read.

I rate this book a 2 out of 4 stars because of the amount of errors in the book. The book uses words of an educated person as well as words that an uneducated person would use. The book should have a cohesive style of grammar. The book was not written cohesively, ergo the poor rating. Unfortunately, the book was definitely not professionally edited or proofread. The book had an exhausting amount of run on sentences as well as sentences that did not make any sense even after re-reading.

In all, I would recommend the book if the book were to be re-edited by a professional. The book had many amazing lessons. The emotional connection made with the characters was profound and enticing. I could honestly say that I did not want to take a break from reading the novel. The book has amazing potential to be a great book, and I cannot wait to read more books from the author on the contingency that the books are proofread and professionally edited.
