In Rescued by E. Alan Fleischauer, we are introduced to John Thurgood Thomas, also known as JT Thomas. He is a fearless traveler who covers the country alongside his two horses and a buffalo gun. During an unsuspected downpour, JT Thomas seeks refuge in a cave. However, he did not know that it held many secrets. Suddenly, a wagon appeared out of nowhere, but there was something strange behind it. This wagon will change his life. In one day, he goes from rescuing women to committing murder.

Rescued is a captivating Western novel that takes the reader on an amazing journey with many twists and turns. Even though this book is one of a trilogy, it is a stand-alone novel. The book was told through the third person, and I believe that this was the right choice for this book. It made the book so easy to read so that the reader could fully focus on the plot that was developing. It is extremely suspenseful, leaving the reader unable to put the book down.

In this book, we are taught an important life lesson. We are shown through the mind of JT that not only is nothing guaranteed, but we never know what day will be our last. We need to hold on to the people important in our lives, even if they are not blood-related.

My favorite part of the book would have to be how fast-paced it was. It never had a dull moment, so it hooked the reader from start to finish. I also enjoyed that it truly gave us a taste of what the wild west could have been like, and this was portrayed extremely well. I also found no errors, as it was edited amazingly.

However, one aspect of the book that I would have liked to improve was the descriptions of the other characters. The only girl that we truly get a description of is Annabelle. I feel that if we got a description of the other women, it would have improved the book.

Due to the action-packed plot that left me unable to put the book down, I would have to rate this book four out of four stars. Alongside that, I truly felt transported into 1890, as it was executed extremely well. It is beautifully written, had an amazing plot, and was not tiring to read.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for an amazing plot-driven book to read. However, because of some tough language, I would rate this book ages 13 and up.
