Review by itsrachna -- Strong Heart by Charlie Sheldon
Strong Heart is a flawless book with an adventurous background. The idea of blending history, quest and ancestral love makes it a unique story. As you move ahead with the story, reading becomes a desire. You start craving to find out what lies in the next page. The book cites, real life hiking goals with minutest detail of beautiful terrains and wilderness.
The author Charlie Sheldon has succeeded in developing an everlasting and refreshing imagery in reader's mind. He managed to keep the reader involved. Each character has a different attitude and personality. Their individuality makes the story more realistic. Stubbornness is another quality which rules the storyline. The main characters in the story are determined and rebellious.
The story starts in a cold environment with strong winds thrashing the door. Three main characters were getting ready for their hike to Olympia National Park when Tom suddenly finds that he has a granddaughter and is standing at his door. The story starts with a surprise and is full of it. Somehow they decide to go on the trip together and unravel the mysteries that lie ahead for them. Sarah although is portrayed as physically weak and thin but is most persistent, furious and determined. These contrary behaviours are intriguing. She is an orphan and almost unwanted by anyone, but her courage makes her earn for herself the name Strong Heart. The book talks about complex family issues that native Americans face. It takes you to magnificent landscapes, wildlife, vegetation and artefacts. The introduction of historical wildlife, people and their lifestyle takes the story to different level.
I will rate the book 3 out of 4 stars. The book never let my curiosity fall. Different time periods are knitted so elegantly and powerfully, as if they were alive in front of eyes. It gifts a magical vision to the reader. The adventure you are taken to makes your adrenaline rush. The book can be read by people of all age groups. The thing that I dislike about the book is how characters are portrayed in the first few pages. It gives a cluttered idea of the main heroes of the book. It took me some time to decipher. But as the story flows, things become clearer. I believe the writer should have worked more on character building. Also, in between when the story splits into two segments, it delivered unwanted details. For some time, the story does not grow further but achieves its flow again.
The book is worth reading again and again. Each time you read it, you fill find another hidden reality. It kept me curious all the time. The author seems to have keen knowledge about history and science. There is a lot you can learn from the book. I will highly recommend this book.

I too found this a captivating read that, at all times, kept me interested in what would happen next. I enjoyed it and, like you, I would recommend Strong Heart to others.
I also agree with your comments about the portrayal of the characters in the first few pages. I felt the way the characters were introduced during those early pages made it more difficult to get to know the characters. So, it took a little longer to settle into reading the novel than I would have hoped.
Overall though, it is definitely worth reading and I am glad to hear it is a book you would consider reading again and again.
