Rescued is a western murder mystery novel written by E. Alan Fleischauer and published in July of 2020 by Blue Ox Books. At right under 150 Kindle edition pages, the novel is the perfect length for book one in the JT Thomas Saga. The tale revolves around JT Thomas and a group of women he stumbles upon at what could only be described as phenomenal timing.

An upstanding citizen, and accurately referred to as "a good egg," JT Thomas stumbles across a wagon of women who are being held against their will while out riding his horse. Despite not looking for any kind of trouble, JT knows he cannot simply turn the other way while knowing the unfortunate events that could come about for the women. Thanks to years of experience with dealing with the bad guys, JT is able to quickly take control of the situation and get the women to safety, however, unbeknownst to him, there's a bad egg in the group, which is discovered too late and leads to an ongoing chase against the clock to stop some relentless criminals.

Among the group of women, readers are introduced to Annabelle, who quickly catches the eye of JT. Annabelle is recently separated from her estranged husband and determined to get her only daughter back from his wealthy hands. The two form a companionship that swiftly develops into a budding romance while they work to capture dangerous fugitives who are escaping their efforts around every corner. While on one of their searches, the two explore a formerly inhabited cave, which they soon discover is in an abundance of treasures.

The character development throughout Rescued is deep and meaningful, allowing readers a glimpse into the challenging daily lives of the hard workers and dedicated citizens who will stop at nothing to ensure the safety of their community. JT's determination to do what is right only increases throughout the story, with his valor growing just as quickly as his adoration for Annabelle. With an action-packed storyline and mysteries around every corner, will the pair be able to bring justice for their friends, or will despair follow them in even more challenging ways?

Reading a western novel is a first for me, and honestly, something that I didn't know I would enjoy as much as I have while reading Rescued. The synopsis had me intrigued and now after finishing the first in the saga, I'm exceptionally glad I decided to give this one a chance. I'm so pleased to rate Rescued 4 out of 4 stars and would gladly recommend it to readers of all genres. The novel has also undergone professional editing, which is apparent throughout, as I found no grammatical or spelling distractions. Although mainly a western theme, the novel includes other genres such as romance and mystery, which would appeal to an even larger audience. Although tastefully written, the novel does include some violence, explicit language, and gruesome descriptions that might not be suitable for all readers.
