The Assignment by Don Chance is about a president of a university named CJ. She is a powerful businesswoman focused on her career and making big, positive changes to the school. She has a very comfortable and "boring" life, an adult daughter, and a husband. Everything in her life was perfect until one night she will regret for the rest of her life. She gets caught up in a scandal that leads to blackmail and jeopardizes her career. She is put to the ultimate test and finds out how strong she really is.

I would rate this book 3 out 4 stars. The only reason I'm not giving it 4 stars is because the author goes into some character's backgrounds that have nothing to do with the story and I don't think it was necessary. Other than that, the story is enticing and kept me wanting to read more.

What I liked most about this book were the characters and the built up suspense. I absolutely loved the ending because it was unpredictable and not what I expected at all. My heart was pumping the last 20 pages or so. What I disliked the most was how the author goes off topic to talk about a character's background that didn't have anything to do with the story and only mentioned the character one time. It seemed irrelevant.

The audience that would enjoy this book are people who enjoy a strong female lead, any one who has attended a university, and any one who likes suspense novels.

There are some minor profanity, but not a whole lot throughout the book. There's borderline profanity on page 2 and non-borderline profanity on page 118. I didn't find any typos or grammatical errors. There were a couple erotic scenes that weren't graphic at all. On a scale of 0-5, I would rate it 1 because it was very mild.

Overall, I enjoyed this book very much and would definitely recommend it.
