John Thurgood Thomas, more commonly known as JT Thomas, is a rugged cowboy in the 1890's. He is an adventurous spirit always looking to help others in any way that he can. At times, helping others forces him to do some questionable things, like murdering villainous people who are threatening the lives of innocents. He takes on each adventure with his trusty .50 caliber gun and his loyal twin horses, Pete and Repeat.

During a storm, JT Thomas comes across a cave filled with wealthy possessions and makes this hideout his home base as he shelters from the conditions outside. In the distance, he sees women being grossly mistreated by some men in a horse-driven wagon. JT saves the four women from their disgusting conditions and takes them to a small town to keep them safe from their captors. JT later learns that one of the women, Jean Cantrell, is not a victim, but the perpetrator behind the capture and kidnapping of the other three women. Jean escapes the inn that JT puts the women up in for a couple of days, and JT vows revenge. The rest of the novel centers around JT's incredible adventures, including tracking down Jean. JT tackles these adventures with Annabelle by his side, one of the kidnapped women he saved.

Rescued, written by E. Alan Fleischauer, is a fast-paced western novel that is filled with adventure, crime, and mystery. The author did a fantastic job creating engaging plot lines with multi-dimensional characters. I especially enjoyed how all characters, even minor ones, had a background story that led me to understand their motivations and actions. My favorite character is Annabelle, JT's partner in crime. I appreciated that she was independent and feisty, which differs from the normal ditsy women that usually appear in western novels.

This literary work appears to be professionally written, I did not spot any mistakes in the grammar or spelling. In addition, I did not find anything about this novel that I disliked. Because of the engaging dialogue, amazing character development, and engrossing plot lines, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. Another reason behind this stellar rating is that I truly could not pinpoint one dislike I encountered about this novel.

I would recommend this literary work to anyone that appreciates mystery, crime, and western novels. Because of some of the explicit language, I would also advise that readers of this novel be over the age of 12.
