After reading Dorothy May Mercer's Cynthia and Dan: Cyber War, I found myself both having enjoyed the experience and mirthful for the ride. The story follows the protagonist, Cynthia Patterson, through twin tales that are intertwined much like a Caduceus.

Finding no fire in her relationship with local police officer Dan McIntyre, Cynthia is drawn in by an intriguing figure, Sky Eastman, after the hullabaloo around a drone landing at the White House had traffic in a lock-down. Swept off her feet by Sky's charm and ruggedly wealthy appeal, Cynthia is tempted away from prior plans with Dan in the pursuit of the new suitor.

Meanwhile, Cynthia had brought together a strategic strike force with her brother, Glenn, in order to engage in cyber warfare against terrorism and its grip through the internet. As both stories warp and weft with each other, the heroine found both victories and pitfalls.

Overall, I gave this book a 3 out of 4 stars for being entertaining with only a few inconveniences. What I enjoyed most was how the main character's aspirations are larger than life but bore fruit. It was inspiring and well-intended without focusing too much in the tawdry.

Unfortunately, the story had quite a few interchangeable characters such as the various members of the staff under Cynthia and Glenn. Similarly, there were vocal affectations that seemed prominent, but I am not familiar with local Washington lingo or if "darling", "sweetie", and "sweetheart" are so often used there.

Since this was an audiobook, there was little of note for grammar or typos, but the narrator, Scott Ellis, did restate the book title, author, and narrator at the beginning of each chapter. There was also an appendix at the end that elaborated about birth control such as the morning after pill and other, more abortive, measures that did bear relevance to the story.
