"The Lost Identity Casualties" by Kim Ekemar Review
The Lost Identity Casualties by Kim Ekamir is the first instalment of a seven-part book series called The Callaghan Septology. The novel introduces its reader to a male character who waked up in a hospital from a coma. He does not know who he is or why he is in the hospital. He is strapped down to the bed and is covered in bandages, with strange people coming to him strapped in the bed. He meets an attractive woman in the novel who turns out to be his wife and with the help of the hospital staff explains the situation to the character.
Through intriguing characters and an overflowing amount if creativity, Ekemar has delved into a world of mystery in which the reader will be left with questions through each page they read. With a little over 200 pages, this novel is split into two parts. The first one where the reader learns of Callaghan, the main character, past and learns of how he ended up where he was, along with other characters being introduced in the process. The second part of the novel is of Callaghan planning his revenge.
The novel is a fast-paced story that leaves a reader with suspense of what will happen next and makes the reader want to keep reading the novel. Ekemar uses well descriptive language that creates the image in the readers mind for them to envision. Throughout the novel are several different action scenes that Ekemar has described vividly to create an action-filled novel for the reader to imagine. The novel discusses some different topics that keeps the suspense and story flowing and makes the story even more interesting to read such as things like drug trafficking, face-transplant and more.
The author also presents many different characters throughout the novel. Usually when books have many characters it can get very confusing and a reader can get lost on who is who and what is what but Ekemar has given them each a unique personality and different names that didn’t make it difficult to remember each character. This book is a great way to introduce the rest of the series. It leaves the audience with many questions and explains things in great detail.
This novel is a wonderful read and would recommend to anyone who enjoys suspense and thriller. I would say that Ekemar could have presented more suspenseful scenes throughout the novel. I believe that the novel deserves a 3 out of 4 stars because of this reason. I would recommend this novel to those of not faint-heart and can handle descriptive thriller scenes.
