And Then I Met Margaret follows real estate agent and restauranteur, Rob White on his journey from boy to man. We see him come into his own as he sees life through other people's eyes. That, in turn, makes him more sympathetic towards the things other people are going through. And he realizes that he is the author of his own path and that there are more important things in life than temporary material things.

I enjoyed the life lessons in this book, especially the beginning chapters where Rob is growing up and realizing that he doesn’t want to- nor does he have to- follow in his fathers footsteps by working at their factory for the rest of his life. I think finding ourselves and our own identities is something we could all relate to. And it's okay to choose our own paths in life, even if it's not the one our parents would rather choose for us. There were also life lessons for every stage of life, which is important as we are always growing, learning and evolving. It teaches the reader that just because one is adult, they shouldn't think they know everything, or that they've stopped growing. There's always room for growth and for learning from ones mistakes.

I gave And Then I Met Margaret a rating of 3 out of 4 stars. I didn’t necessarily dislike anything. It was just a nice, light read. It wasn't boring, yet I didn't fully love it. And as for grammatical errors, I don't think they're enough to take away from this pleasant, quick and eye-opening read. It's truly touching to see the main character choose his own path and destiny, and to watch him blossom into the man he wanted to be, rather than the man his father always wanted him to be. He chose to dream big for himself because, while he was grateful for his father/parents, he felt he deserved better than than the life he had back at the factory.

Another aspect of the book that I thoroughly enjoyed, was the concept of sentimental things over material things. While Rob was making heaps and heaps of money, he wasn't truly happy. There are just certain things that you cannot put a price on, and I think that the author conveyed that very well in this book! The whole tone of the book was extremely relatable, and it felt like the author was speaking directly to me. And the writing had a lighthearted tone to it, even in the sections that were quite serious, which is a nice touch in my opinion.

The reader gets to see a man's journey through life and through his ups and downs. And they get to learn tough, yet important life lessons along with the main character. If you're of age 15+ and enjoy inspiring coming of age stories ,this is definitely the book for you!
