Heartaches 2 by H.M Irwing is just as interesting as the first book all with seeing each character develop and grapple with their past, present and make attempts to have a better future for themselves. In the course of the book, I observe that Anna has changed considerably both bodily as well as psychologically though it seems fate is always making fun at her expense. She has found a kind of refuge at the base where she has friends such as Pat and Pillar watching out for her at all times.

I totally adore her relationship with Rafe and how they battle with the ghosts of their pasts to try and get things right. It was interesting and heartwarming to find out Anna's mother was having things a bit better than before as it is observed she had changed her shifts at work and seemed a bit more relaxed. Irwing's use of suspense is immense as she leaves one to wonder what message, Anna's friend, Yasmin, had brought for her which she never got to tell Anna about.

I loved the suspense of the book the most and the character of Suzanne Smith is amazing she is an interesting twist to the story all with her varying personality. I did not like the fact that sweet Aunt Bella has to be caught in the midst of everything. I like the instance where Anna beat up Matt, he really deserved it. The thing I least like is the fact that Anna is made to go through such emotional turmoil but I guess its part of the uniqueness of the novel.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars due to the fact that it was well written but I couldn't give it a complete rating as I noticed some typos along the way. I recommend this book to youths and lovers of erotic scenarios because the book was sure not lacking in it in anyway.

In a nutshell, it was really captivating all with the introduction of some very interesting characters like Ned, David, and Suzi. It was well written and even in this narrative, it is difficult to ignore the pain and trauma that plague victims of rape all their lives which are seen in the nightmares that assail Anna and Rafe most times. It is quite obvious that it takes a lot of wherewithal to overcome the aftereffects of rape.
