The diary of a Snoopy cat is a book by R.F Kristy, known for her Inca series. This book is no different as it's about a nosy Siberian kitten (Inca)who dreams of becoming a detective. She is the first child out of three kittens, who believes she is the most intelligent and gifted amongst the three. Her dream blossomed in Paris where they stayed before moving to London with their human parent, affectionately known to them as mom. To achieve this, she gets a diary in which her adventures are recorded. She finally lives her dream when her friends name their little club after her and she in turn makes them proud by solving a mystery all by herself. In the end they all enjoy the Christmas together in harmony like they always do.
Kristy's book contains illustrations (my favourite part), which makes the activities in the story come to life and very fun to read. The language is simple and comprehendable as such it suits the age group it's targetted at. But as long as you love pets and kids book, you could be thrilled to see how enticing the book is. Even without such love, I know you will fall madly in love with her book, I did.
I love the way family and friendship is portrayed, fully demonstarting the key things they are based on, trust and love. The relationship between pets and humans in the book is just to die for. It's seen when Inca believes she communicates to her mom through telepathy, which turns out to be true because the humans could read what their pets wanted by looking at their sign languages and facial expressions.
I find the characters very dynamic and intriguing as they all come with their unique qualities. Some are goofy, grumpy, quiet, calm and bullies who even change. I am a die hard fan for cats and the book really made my day when I read it. I actually liked the idea of involving your friends in everything as you cannot depend on your strength alone to make it. Together as a team we are stronger was one of the the themes and I adorec that part. I never liked the fact that it portrayed fat people as lazy, although I believe that wasn't the intention.
I'm rating it 4 out of 4. The reason being that it's quiet a masterpiece, and I believe a lot of attention and efforts got into it making the little mistakes unnoticable. And well, it thought me that a dream can come true as long as you put in a little effort and keep on dreaming, courtesy Inca.
