Two broken souls meet. They are trying to find their salvation and put an end to their nightmares.

The story follows Anna, a 19-year-old rape victim who is struggling to come to terms with all that happened to her. Anna meets Rafe, handsome ex-soldier with problems on his own.
The story unfolds fast, and I read it in one go.

The author realistically paints their struggles to get a hold of their lives. You will feel their turmoil, their doubts, their need for inner peace and love. The novel gives you all specter of emotions. It definitely won`t leave you indifferent.

If you are looking for a light read on the beach or just something to ease your mind with some romance tale, then this is not the book for you. Although categorized as the romance novel, this book is not like others of the genre. It contains rape scenes and mature sex scenes that are not for young readers, or for those highly upset by rape. Some of the readers might find this scenes a little too much for their liking.

But if you like erotic romance novels with some deeper meaning, this is the book for you. Graphic sex scenes will leave you all warm inside. The author gradually builds excitement through the book, so when Anna and Rafe finally get together, you will be satisfied.

Rape scenes are also vividly shown, but they are not overwhelming. You can still enjoy the very juicy love scenes. The author effectively portraits the misunderstanding of those who deal with the rape victims. Rape victims are not just that, they are victims of our society too.
Despite its dark undertone, the novel gives you hope. It shows you that you can survive anything with just a little help and understanding.

Heartaches were enjoyable read. It holds your attention to the last page and makes you care for characters. Sometimes you feel the deep sorrow for their anguish, and other times you are just so angry with them. The second rape that Anna had endured was overkill from my point of view. I couldn`t understand her actions. She should act differently there. That being said, I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. I haven`t noticed any typos or grammar mistakes.

The following books in series are on my next to read list.

H.M. Irwing peaked my interest. I`ll be following his work.
