Fish Wielder by J.R.R.R (Jim) Hardison is a fantasy novel. It can be likened to books such as Alice In Wonderland and Chronicles Of Narnia. It portrays the story of a handsome and brave warrior in a land filled with mythical and magical creatures. Thoral, a warrior known by many for his mighty achievements is a drunk. He wanders from land to land in search of adventure and a worthy foe. His close friends and partners are his magical steed Warlordhorse and his talking fish friend Bradfast. On one of such dangerous quests he encounters and rescues an elf princess from the captivity of a vile wizard. Together, they return to her father who welcomes the warrior and informs him of an unknown force killing his subjects. Being a noble and brave warrior, Thoral gives his word to vanquish this unknown force. Thoral, Bradfast, Warlordhorse, Princess Nalweegie, King Elford and some elf warriors embark on their longest, most dangerous and revealing quest ever.

The book is written in third person narrative. The diction is a bit challenging but okay. The characters are rich, splendidly introduced and well built. The imagery is amazing. The chapters are short and progressive. The story is unique and interesting. The balance of humour and suspense is just fantastic. The build-up is good as well.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. The book is captivating, intriguing and highly humorous. Giving it anything less than 3 stars is impossible for me. I love the story, i love the characters, and i love the delivery. This is the second book i am reading from Hardison and both have been fantastic. Reading this book is like watching a cross between Conan The Barbarian and Chronicles Of Narnia, it's a wonderful piece. The combination of action, adventure, mystery and humour makes the book all the more interesting. At some point while i was reading this book i was lost in imagination, and then i laughed myself to reality. Lastly, reading this book was a smooth ride from beginning to end, only a handful of errors.

Considering all i have said about the book already, I'm sure you can't but wonder why i didn't just rate it 4 stars. Irrespective of the fact that this is such a fun book for me, I didn't rate it 4 stars for some reasons. Firstly, in terms of Originality, i find it only fair. It has a lot of similarities with Chronicles of Narnia, even though its storyline is somewhat different. Secondly, the ending, I'd say, is not totally satisfying. I personally think it could use some more chapter. Lastly, the exaggeration is in excess at some point in the story, it made me slightly disappointed. Besides those, it's nothing short of a fantastic book.

I recommend this book to everyone who loves to read. i think it'll especially appeal to readers who love a fusion of adventure and humour. Hardison is turning out to be one of my favourite authors with this wonderful piece. Thumbs up man!
