The book "Harold and Lewey" actually catches readers by surprise in the most unexpected way. Definitely, I believed I would experiment with all the hype, but when I opened the book, I was completely immersed in it. The psychological thriller is unlike conventional stories of this sort. The book tricks its readers by following sudden paths. The story begins with a basic concept, which involves two college students being lost on a desolate road in the countryside. The students encounter an unwanted person who follows them on the road. The feeling of paranoia hits you right away.

The most striking aspect that gets me is the complete inability of Harold and Lewey to see eye to eye over the situation. According to Lewey, they will become headline news because of their circumstances, while Harold minimizes it by saying "Don't worry so much." You can understand the characters' personalities from their dialogue. That's a thing I really like when reading a book, because you can elaborate your own ideas about a situation.

What really amazes me is how you balance betrayal, trust, and fear; it's like watching their friendship fall apart right in front of you, while also dealing with this stalker. You go about trying to piece together "clues," but the plot is simply going in circles, and you're sitting here not understanding anything. It's a confused jumble to the extent that you're laughing some of the time, too, because of Lewey.

The rhythm is just as tight. You never even feel rushed, though everything is moving along very fast. Your internal voice is constantly thinking, "What would I do in this situation?" For a compact book, there's a real emotional impact to it. It kind of shook me up, but positively. But I have to say it, I didn't like the end that much. The plot twist is surprising, but it left me a little disappointed.

I rate this book four out of five stars for it being such an engrossing tale, but unfortunately, with a somewhat dull end. It's eerie, profound, with some wit in it, and actually made me doubt everything, exactly what I ask from a good psychological ride. And also, it's really short, so you can read this in hours.
