Set during the Vietnam War era, Wild World focuses on Steve Logan, who is graduating from Brown University in Providence, RI, along with his girlfriend, Roxy. Steve is planning on going to law school and Roxy to medical school after graduation. Amid protests of the Vietnam War and the killing of four students during a protest at Kent University, things start to change for Steve.

During this time, he meets David Durk, a New York City policeman who joined the police force to try to get rid of the corruption in the department. Speaking at Brown and asked by a student why he did it, his answer was, "To try to make a difference you have to get involved." These words made Steve start thinking about his future. After thinking it through he chose not to attend law school and joined the Providence Police Department instead. Steve was the only person to graduate from the academy who had gone to an Ivy League school. This was the first strike against him.

After graduating from the academy, Steve encountered corruption within the department that went all the way to the top ranks. Despite his efforts to keep to his principles, he often felt like an outcast in the department. He was frequently assigned tasks such as walking patrols and typing reports as a form of punishment imposed by his superiors. Aware of the numerous obstacles he faced within the department, Steve found himself unable to trust anyone and unsure of where to seek assistance. He experienced numerous challenges, resulting in decisions that would have a significant impact on his future. The outcomes of these changes remain uncertain. "Wild World" is a compelling read, particularly for those who have experienced this era and can identify with its context.

I gave Wild World a 5 out of 5 rating. I would certainly recommend it as a great read.

I found nothing negative about the book and think the author did a great job following the events of the time period. This was not a book I would usually pick to read but I found it very interesting.

The editing of the book was great, I did not notice any typos or errors while reading Wild World.

The thing I liked most about the book was that it showed how you can change as a person and still uphold your beliefs. You must fight through the obstacles set before you and come out as a better person knowing what you did was the right decision.
