Beating Death: Witch Hunters, written by Sean O'Banion, is a fast-paced novel full of fantasy and drama.

In a world of superpowers, wormholes, ghosts, and magic, we meet our hero, Robert O'Banion. Robert's history is marked by a mixture of highs and lows. He went from being experimented on in Area 51 and flatlining multiple times to winning the lottery and using the money to help save the environment. He teams up with Jolie Schaeder and her cousins, Emily Williams and Dr. Greta Keene, three extraordinarily powerful witches. Together with the help of Robert's brother and some more unexpected friends, they must fight to save the universe!

I found the pacing of this book to be quite irregular and uneven. There are huge action scenes that involve wormholes, meeting Jesus, and fighting for the universe. However, these scenes are reduced to cliff notes and highlights. Then, there are two pages written about smoking cigars. I found this made the book difficult to follow.

The repetitive writing style was also something I could not get on board with. "Very Super Secret FBI Agent Paula Nance" didn't really need such a long title every time she was mentioned. "Shotgun Willie Weiner, standing in his underwear" also did not need to be repeated so much. I understand the author was writing humorously; however, there are only so many times underwear can be funny in 6 pages.

I give Sean O'Banion's book, Beating Death: Witch Hunters, two out of five stars. I did not enjoy the writing style, and I found the repetition humour more annoying than funny. There are also several typographical and grammatical errors, though O'Banion has stated that this is not the final version of the book and it will be professionally edited before publishing.

I recommend this book to adults who enjoy science fiction and fantasy novels. Please be aware that this book contains profanity, sexual content, suicide, drug use, racism, and a lot of violence.
