Kenny is artfully written by Mark Carew. I chose this book to read because of others' reviews saying it was comical and a laugh-out-loud book. Once I began to read it, I didn't find it funny as much as crass. However, the more I read, and the more the characters were developed, I did begin to find it funnier than I first experienced. What helped me begin to enjoy the book was when the Seabertians, who were led by Kenny, landed in West Virginia to experience a real earth journey. The way the author wrote about the natives' reaction to the aliens was humorous. And the way he portrayed the Seabertians innocent reactions to their circumstances was what I'd imagine if I were placed in a new environment.

The story goes on to show the biased opinions of some of the United States leaders and political parties. I really enjoyed the description of the orange-colored president and how he was elected even though he had already proven to be a horrible businessman with several bankruptcies in his past. How anyone would want to elect such a maniacal, egotistical, self-loving person is exactly what makes the novel a punch line of accuracy.

Then we are introduced to Earl from Kentucky. He is the stereotypical hillbilly with little intelligence and very poor health. Is he what the Americans need to run their country? He has some of the characteristics that are needed from being a devout Fox News follower to being a dishonest used car salesman.

Leave it to Kenny and his landing team to decide the fate of the United States. I have decided I do agree with the other reviewers that this is a funny book. I do see the humor in the situations, and I see the tragedy too. What will become of Earth if we don't change what we value, how we rule our countries, and how we take care of the inhabitants?

The only thing I would change about the book is the unnecessary sexual innuendo antics that happen between the aliens and the landing party. I found some of the sexual experiences used as taunting to be in poor taste. For this reason and for the way it took me some time to get used to the back-and-forth teasing of the aliens, I give this book a 3 out of 5 stars.
