Thin Places is reminiscent of outer banks meets where the crawdads sing. Finn, a freshly paroled man, trying to honor his previous death row prison pal’s last wishes by connecting him with his daughter, Chloe. Finn hopes to reconnect a daughter to her father and redeem him from a false accusation that ultimately led to his imprisonment and death. Finn honors this last wish while also attempting to restore his relationship with his daughter. To prove he has changed and grown into a man that his daughter would want to pursue a relationship with. The blend of beautiful rhetoric describing scenery and the experiences of the characters draws the reader in. It depicts a mystery, love story, redemption, and spiritual experience all in one. The spirituality and almost supernatural experiences depicted were a surprising feature in this novel. Thin places are further defined by the experience of the characters being in a place where they can reconnect with lost loved ones, where the living and the dead can meet, and ultimately heal. Watching the characters navigate the difficult hands they have been dealt, to survive, and then thrive. A heartwarming ending then fills the readers cup. Proving that it is never too late to heal wounds and redeem oneself, even after death.
