Liddy-Jean Marketing Queen and the Matchmaking Scheme by Mari SanGiovanni was a heartwarming and hilarious book. It left me smiling throughout. I definitely give this book five out of five stars. The story is so witty and creative. The book was well written without noted errors other than those purposely written.

This story is about Liddy-Jean, a young adult with a learning disability, but also a person with a beautifully smart mind filled with so many ideas. Liddy-Jean covers so many topics, from gay relationships and toxic workplaces to abusive relationships and budding romance. The author clearly portrays the life and mind of an intellectually disabled young adult. I love how the author changes the narrative of how one can live with a disability and still be a productive member of society with many contributions to give to the world. Being a special educator, I adored how everyone at her workspace treated her with dignity and respect, despite her disability. Other than Liddy-Jean, my second favorite character was Rose. Her love and encouragement for Liddy-Jean were so heartfelt. Rose never judged and welcomed Liddy-Jean with open arms. Rose encouraged Liddy to write her own book and helped her see it through until the end. Liddy-Jean’s parents also never gave up on her, even when medical professionals did. All of the characters were all so lovable and easy to relate to. The book is written from the perspective of the characters throughout.

This book was unique, fun, and a true feel good book. This book reminds you there is still good in the world. This is a must read! I promise you will not want to put it down once you start reading. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself laughing out loud and smiling throughout. The book will entertain and inspire you.
