Review by bugzyD -- Becoming the Dragon by Alex Sapegin
[Following is a volunteer review of "Becoming the Dragon" by Alex Sapegin.]

The book Becoming the Dragon is the first of four novel for Alex Sapegin’s bestselling series, The Dragon Inside. The portal traveling, body transformation book focuses on Andy Kerimov, a small-town teenager who survives a direct lightning strike which leaves him unable to interact with any form of electronic devices in his hometown. After being accidentally teleported to another planet, Ilanta, he befriends orcs, elves and dragons and goes on all sort of adventures, from being captured and sold, to being reincarnated as a dragon.
Andy manages to make dangerous enemies, including the human king and his executioner. He also manages to make some very powerful friends including one of the last living dragons and an ancient elf with a mysterious back-story that makes you want to reach for the second book in the series. The two perform an ancient ritual which turns Andy into a Dragon. Young and strong willed, Andy could be the one to revive the dragons of old and save the world.
After reading this book, I would give it a rating of 2 out of 4 stars. The book was very frustrating at times with some ups and downs. The story was filled with a lot of unnecessary description of events, making the book rather long and tiresome to read. Then there were moments which causes the reader to miss out on watching the character growth and development. The planet the author built is vast and could have been described in more detail as he did for other details. In the author’s defense, I believe some of these things were left out intentionally to keep the story short and the reading easy, but I would have liked to see a better balance of story progression and character development.
The writer's descriptive words blended well with the reader's imagination to give an idea of each scene Andy was going through. It also helps to give a picture of each of the characters Andy met. The little side stories sometimes had nothing to do with the story seemed like they were just added to make the book longer, more of a page filler.
There were minor errors found that may suggest it was professionally edited and written. The glossary at the back of the book helped in giving clarity to certain terms that were never defined in the book by Andy or anyone he encounters. It helps to give more appreciation of the planet Sapegin created and a bit of the history of the new planet.
