Arthur F. Seymour is full of wisdom, which is evident in his book, “The Ultimate Weapon.” The book covers a wide array of topics that will be as relevant tomorrow as they are today with a main focus on artificial intelligence and neuroscience. In his writing, he demonstrates one possible future created by the advancement of artificial intelligence. Considering the impressive capabilities of today’s high-tech gadgets, what will they become in just a few short centuries? What factor most impacts their evolution and what impact will they have on us? In “The Ultimate Weapon,” Seymour makes it clear that we humans ultimately determine the path of artificial intelligence: we are the creator of AI, so we choose what, or who, it becomes. Accepting this truth, “The Ultimate Weapon” consistently emphasizes another truth: no matter how advanced we become as a species, the outcome of the battle within each of us in which truth, honor, and love fight to overcome deception, greed, and fear will continue to be crucial to our existence and to the evolution of all we create, just as it always has.

Due to the advanced topics discussed, wording choice, and editing, this book is slightly difficult to read, and the characters lack a certain depth that prevented me from becoming emotionally invested in their struggles. Also, the protagonist’s original objective gets lost when a new goal is introduced after the first few chapters, and it’s never resolved, although that might be intentional. You’ll understand once you read it. Positively, many attributes make this book fun and intriguing. With its many links, references to real world products and concepts, and options to edit, “The Ultimate Weapon” is an interactive and educational experience that I enjoyed. Note that the links do not open in a new tab, so when you go back to the book after clicking on a link, you return to the beginning of the book rather than where you left off, but that’s a minor inconvenience and well worth the effort.

Due to Seymour’s brilliant pairing of futuristic sci-fi with the timelessness of morals, spirituality, and the power of love, I give this book a 3 out of 5. I recommend it to anyone who works with artificial intelligence and/or in neuroscience, anyone who enjoys futuristic science fiction, anyone who proudly considers themselves a deep thinker and/or spiritual, and any hopeless romantic who loves love.
