Review of Blessed by the Blood
The book Blessed by the Blood by Dr. Samuel M. Ebenezer brings a sense of fresh life and enthusiasm to the age old Word of God As soon as the reader begins the excitement the author has found in preaching, ministering, and loving others is simply contagious! This book is, in essence, a devotional that could be completed in 30 days.
Blessed by the Blood is broken down into a series of easy to follow sections, addressing each critical topic the author wishes to cover. The flow and substance of the book is smooth and well written to include a wide audience. This book can be a blessing to anyone who wishes to open his/her mind to the blessings provided by the blood of Jesus. The author uses the well-balanced system of the promises of God and practicality to introduce readers to the truths and revelations found in the Word of God, and how they apply not only to the ancient Israelites, but to each of us today. He is truly able to effectively communicate to all who are interested in learning about God and His longsuffering love for us.
The reader who is curious about God will appreciate the open, inviting style, and tone of the author. Never does the wordage condescend or shame those who are new, or even non-believers, creating a safe zone for those who are interested in learning of the heavy cost of our eternal life. Samuel utilizes several different versions of the Bible (e.g. KJV, NIV, etc.) with emphasized statements to drive each point home. He reassures the reader throughout the entirety of the book that no matter what any person has done, he or she is not outside of God's perfect love. Those who are unfamiliar with the concepts of the Bible or ministry of Jesus will walk away feeling enlightened and uplifted. Dr. Ebenezer is excellent at compelling us to want to jump into Jesus' mercy and grace at full speed. True to the Word of God, the book has many scriptures supporting each point and consistently references Jesus' teachings, reinforcing that the book is faithful to biblical teachings and not solely based on the author's own opinions and reasonings.
Dr. Ebenezer is a native of India. He uses his experience as a gospel crusader in a place where ministering may lead to persecution to give the reader a somewhat different and valuable perspective. His down-to-earth insights on the subject of God's blessings recorded in the pages of this book are invaluable. Pulling from his personal experiences, both joyous and devastating, he takes readers on a ride through the ups and downs of his own life and how the blood of Jesus is relevant in every season of life.
Readers will enjoy the easy to follow layout of each revelation, creating an opportunity for personal reflection with questions that could be paramount in the discovery of toxic thought patterns within ourselves, breaking down strongholds in the process. The revelations are broken down into small sections to include key points, messages, applications, reflection, and prayer that guides us through how we may apply the message in our lives. The guided prayer in these messages is, without a doubt, one of the best aspects of this book. Each prayer is filled with power.
Over and again the blessing of Jesus' blood is highlighted and even the most seasoned Christian will discover things that they may have been absent knowledge of. It is captivating to comprehend that so many blessings flow from God through His only begotten son, and that we may partake of them and claim them at any moment! This book is wonderful for those who may be wondering whether or not they should take the leap with Jesus. After reading, there is no question as to the incomprehensible love and compassion of Jesus. Those who have not been introduced to the concept of being "born again" will be thoroughly educated on the blessings and benefits that come with giving your life over to Jesus.
The author does not spare in sharing his own despairs and troubles; indeed he openly shares very difficult times in his life, and inspires the reader by explaining the way that God worked in his life through all of the difficulties and life-altering experiences. The reader who has turned from religion, or God particularly because of a horrible or devastating situation with lingering questions and frustration will draw much hope and peace in reading that God is always present, and how they may emerge from the ashes with stronger faith than before.
Finally, the end of the book contains a list of all of the revelations presented, which serves as an instant reminder in times of trouble, fear, uneasiness, or tragedy that Jesus' blood has overcome and we can trust in Him. This list is great to refer back to in times such as these.
The book had only 1 typo that I noticed, and was edited quite well. The only thing that could be improved on is the surface level of some of the personal experiences in the messages. The general idea was always evident, but I wish the author had really taken the time to expand on a few of these memories and perhaps anchored the overall key point to a real event for a deeper understanding of how the principals may be practiced in our own lives.
I am rating this book 5 out of 5 as the parts to be improved upon did not detract from the overall enjoyment and benefit of the book. Highly recommend!
