Have you wondered what the life of Job's wife looked like after reading the Bible? The Legacy of Job's Wife is an adaptation from the book of Job detailing what their lives would have looked like and filling in the details left out by the biblical narration.

We know Job as one of the most faithful servants of God, but we don't know much about his love life. This book brings to life that aspect of his life. Actually, the protagonist is Ix'ises, a young lady who grew up in the land of Uz. She had been friends with Job since childhood, and as everyone expected, their long-time friendship ends in marriage. Despite coming from contrasting backgrounds, their love was enviable. Job was very wealthy at the time, and their marriage was blessed with ten children. They lived a life of bliss, merriment, and comfort until things took a wild turn. In a twinkle of an eye, everything they owned was gone, including their children. Ix'ises couldn't believe her eyes or understand why such a tragedy befell them. However, Job seemed unperturbed, believing that God had a reason for the ugly occurrences. Ix'ises couldn't understand why Job continued being faithful despite all that happened. Why couldn't Job just curse God and die? After all, he was struck with a deadly skin disease. We human beings have emotions, and sometimes, we let our emotions get the best of us. In Ix'ises' case, her emotions didn't really get the best of her; she reacted just like every normal person would when faced with such problems. Imagine losing all your belongings and ten children in just a day. Anyone would be broken like she was. This book is designed to depict human emotions in the face of challenges. It would only take strong belief in God to behave like Job. I love how Cynthia Koelker brought Ix'ises to the limelight, trying to debunk the stereotype about her.

I rate The Legacy of Job's Wife five out of five stars. It was an engaging read for me, and I also found it to be emotional. I could relate to Ix'ises' predicament, and all I did was sympathise with her as I read. I found absolutely nothing to criticise about the book. Fans of religious books will definitely find this book interesting.
