The Diary of a Snoopy Cat by R.F. Kristi is a fascinating book for children. I believe it would be applicable for kids above the age of ten. This is because the events that took place, would be easily understood by children of that age group. The book was focused around the Christmas Season and highlighted the main characters, and other four legged friends and family, as being relevant to the main character's journey through life.

Looking through the eyes of a cat, shows a very wide view of the world. Domesticated cats are known to be adventurous and fun and at the same time very selective with whom they associate. Also, the head character, Inca, projected herself as leader, which seeded very bold for a cat, given that they are not usually domineering. Yet, cats having dreams and showing a sense of belonging, is an excellent way of displaying that people are similar and encounter many trials and triumphs that are very significant to who they are and who they will become.

The developments that surrounded the stolen necklace were significant in how each character was portrayed and in realizing that, Inca actually came face to face with her foe and ironically was rescued by a dog. That was fantastic because in reality the dog is her natural enemy. This book is good at showing contrasts between what is and what should/could be possible. Also it is relevant in highlighting different angles to friendship and of what a family unit is comprised. We all have ambitions, and it is evident that there are many aspects of Inca's quintessence, which included being a detective and having a posse to assist in her investigations to being a best friend.

Like many families, Christmas is a major event in our lives and it is no different with this unit. The number of days before Christmas was mentioned frequently, and entered in the diary on a daily basis. It is safe to state that Christmas was an annual tradition similar to their "humanoid" owners. The detailed descriptions such as the size of the table, the excitement, the food and even the Christmas decorations indicated that Inca was an excellent observer and very involved in all that unfolded during this event.

The exchange of gifts was delightful. Who would have thought that cheese was so precious? In any event, Christmas Day was well received and without the usual delays and misfortunes, except, pets being so amazed by the lights on the tree, found it too irresistible to ignore, and decided to take a closer look by climbing it. Of course, this was all in the spirit of the Yuletide Season. I give this book 4 out of 4.

I agree that the author did such a good job of developing the characters. She gives them all such unique, fun personalities!

I just read this one. I had never read the other ones in the series. I did enjoy it, it's humorous and unique, but there are a lot of characters to keep track of! That part was difficult. Definitely a book an adult and child can read together over several nights.
