Killing the Rougarou by Sean M. Beasley is a story about several couples that basically form into two extended families. The story tells of their backgrounds. The author shows how they met and details facts about their courtships. The author then tells about their marriages and the children they produced making the couples into families. The couples experience the normal trials of relationships. The Rougarou is a southern folklore about an evil monster. The Rougarou in this book is Michael Paul Markem and his actions affect all of the couples in different ways.

I was surprised by the book as I thought the book's main subject was mainly about killing the Rougarou. The Rougarou was slightly introduced in the Prologue and wasn't mentioned again until Chapter 13. His story was scattered throughout various parts of the book. The remainder of the book explained the couples and their journeys through life. Sex scenes were in the book regarding the couples and were not extremely graphic. The book consisted of non borderline profanity. I became familiar with the couples and their families and my interest remained in the book wondering how and when the Rougarou was going to affect them.

The Rougarou was an evil man who enjoyed killing women and then having sex with the corpses. The author expressed that he had sex with the corpse after he killed the woman without going into details. The Rougarou had no conscious and was capable of spying on people without being noticed.

The book's era ranged from the 1950's to the 1970's and was set in the Louisiana bayou and Texas area. The author brought me into the Southern way of life. When describing the bayou, I could imagine the swamp and creatures of the South. I enjoyed learning about the Fais do do that the neighborhoods enjoyed when celebrating.

I rated this book a 3 out of 5 because of the errors in grammar in the book. One sentence left off the last word. Some of the sentences didn't make sense. I didn't notice any words spelled wrong. I disliked the way the author introduced more characters in the book. It was hard to determine where the storyline began about a different family. Even with these errors, the book was enjoyable.
