Working From Home: Making it Work for You by Thomas Engblom is a practical guidebook for those individuals mainly interested in working from home, as the name implies. Working from home became a new norm during the COVID-19 pandemic, which altered a lot of people’s financial lives; most fell out of jobs while others had to resort to using a home office to adapt to those changing times.

But after the pandemic, it still stuck. Everyone wants to work from home, but most people are so confused about the dynamics of working from home that they usually fall into an unhealthy habit in the process. But not to worry, Engblom did his research and gifted us with a self-guidebook to help us deal with the challenges of working remotely.

Engblom’s style of writing is very exceptional, offering us short and straightforward chapters that were easy to comprehend. He starts by outlining the history of working remotely dating back to centuries ago and how the pandemic simply amplified it. Then he went on to talk about how to choose a perfect home office location and the equipment needed for your line of work. He also listed out the pros and cons of working remotely to help the readers make a better choice on which path to choose.

One of my favorite aspects of this book was how he related every aspect of working remotely to Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, and it goes to show how intentional he was about this book. He also emphasized the need to strike a balance between work life and personal life and set up boundaries to prevent stress and burnout.

I found nothing to dislike about this book; it was a very interesting and engaging read for me. Although there were some profanities used, I enjoyed every bit of this book. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in working from home, as this book is a proper guide.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars because it was well deserved. Engblom’s ability to effectively deliver practical advice to both seasoned and new remote workers is applaudable. I found this book very intriguing and informative, making it perfect for those looking to navigate the work-from-home paradigm. The book was exceptionally well edited and error-free.
