Karna Sonam Tarjay's Enlightenment of Mind is a modern reinterpretation of the Lankavatara Sutra that represents a fundamental movement in both cultural and philosophical thinking. The book is an uplifting guide to understanding the heart and mind, encouraging readers to dream, be positive, and conquer life's obstacles. It introduces a new way of looking at life, one full of possibilities and insights.
Tarjay takes readers on an in-depth trip through several facets of the human mind, exploring themes such as consciousness, dualism, awareness, and more. The Buddha's talk with Ravana in the first chapter emphasises the need for listening openly and spontaneously as part of spiritual progress. By combining modern scientific concepts with old Buddhist teachings, the author provides an effective instrument for personal development and mental clarity.
This book offers a fresh viewpoint on having a fulfilling and meaningful life. It is written in a style that is understandable to readers who are familiar with Buddhist literature, but it may feel more esoteric and need patience for people who are unfamiliar with these notions.
When explaining Nirvana, Tarjay refutes common misconceptions, arguing that it is not an escape from suffering but rather a fundamental transformation in perception that transcends the conventional duality of pain and pleasure.
There is nothing to dislike in this book. The author supports their thesis with a range of examples and concepts, and the book is well organised and easy to read. I saw no faults in the text, resulting in a seamless read. Overall, I rate it a solid 5 out of 5 stars.
I would like to recommend Enlightenment of Mind to readers of all ages, especially young adults seeking support and inspiration. This book is a gem for those who are into spirituality and philosophy. Readers who love to explore religious texts will enjoy this one.
