Jody B. Miller's The Misogi Method, an exploration of the Japanese Shintoism methodology of Misogi, delves into the human psyche and growth potential, offering us a path of personal transformation through experiences (good or bad). Helping to broaden our mindsets in a reflective manner, she engages the mind with subtle prompts. The book leads one through an eye-opening reading and growth experience.

One of the idealisms the book portrays is the belief that the process matters just as much as the results, if not more. The idea that we must not be daunted at the prospect of failure when taking on a challenge is one we are verbally accustomed to, but when the going gets tough, it is one that is very easily discarded. Here, she talks about how the fear of failure has limited our growth potential and how instead of shying away from prospective failure, we must pursue personal as opposed to just getting results.

Though many of her ideologies seem basic, or, should I say, they seem to cater to simplistic situations. I believe that, in itself, that is a message about carrying out a misogi. Discarding the superfluous and retaining the pure origin. But the message being passed across can be easily misconstrued. So, it is advised that anyone reading must read without prejudice and with a willingness to learn. I myself have learned a lot from this book.

Regardless of the gravity I may have spoken with, reading my reading journey with 'The Misogi Method' has been nothing but an uplifting, amazing, eye-opening, and even mind-shifting experience. I believe if many of the listed methods are adopted and implemented, we would witness positive personal transformation. I am gradually already seeing such changes in my own self; therefore, I believe this is worth a 5-star rating and I would recommend it for anyone who loves reading.
