Puffy and the formidable foe is by every means an educative book for children. It's not only a good bedtime story material or an interesting read for kids but also a useful resourceful material for having fun with the kids, with a lot of presentation potentials. You could even get animated in line with the story.
From the onset, the writer set out to educate. Its useful that the writer, included a set of guidelines and tips for parents and teachers before the actual story ensues. This not only tactful but will help both parent and child or children to get the best value out of Puffy and the Formidable foe. It's also nice that underline markers were used to mark words that should be of interest, words like hood and wood instead of bold text or italic. This makes it easier for the simple child mind to recognise the sign and pick interest as is intended and give rooms for further educative discussions.
I also commend that room was given to allow the child, choose and colour the diagrams in the book. This not only is a useful progress reward tool but like education is intended to be, allows the child to expand his or her imagination through colouring. Its also nice that the book is quite short, so it's easy to finish and can make it in the top favourite bedtime storybook. It's funny what Puffy's formidable foe turned out to be. Not only will it give an opportunity to understand what a skunk is but also the similarities it has with Puffy and why it smells.
For educative purposes, I would recommend Puffy and the formidable foe to children between the ages of one and six. The simplicity of the book is enough to expand their minds at that age, but once past these ages may be too simple for their growing knowledge. However, Puffy and the formidable foe will, in my opinion, still hold entertainment value for children up to the ages of eleven and even twelve.
I would rate Puffy and the Formidable foe a 4 out of 4 stars. The author was able to bring together a good combination of entertainment and education just like is intended. And even though it's clearly a book for children, it was thoroughly enjoyable to read. The book is short and straight to the point, and the structure of the book allows for maximum value. The writing style is easy enough for the child to not only understand but enjoy the book. In addition, the book was properly edited except for one typographical omission in the author's special message page. Puffy and The Formidable Foe is simply value for money.
