EMP Honeymoon, a suspenseful novel by Dorothy May Mercer, is based in Honduras during the honeymoon of newlyweds Kelly McBride Turbulo and Sgt. Tom Turbulo. During a shopping trip in town while Tom was on an all-day fishing trip, Kelly mistakenly explores her way into the headquarters of a terrorist plot against the USA. What appeared to be an innocent shop called The Pigsty, in reality was so much more.... When Kelly realizes she is in grave danger, she contacts her brother, United States Senator Michael McBride. From that point on, Kelly and Tom are caught up in an effort to thwart this impending terrorist attack, alongside an engaging cast of characters—both friend and foe.

EMP Honeymoon is a fast-paced novel with many interesting characters that the author thoroughly develops with each turning page. The dialogue is engaging and keeps your interest. The subject matter hits close to home and will more than likely encourage many readers to take pause and do their own research about the world situation we live in, trying to answer the question, 'could this really happen'? The camaraderie which the author created between the government entities trying to resolve the crisis (Senator McBride's office and the CIA), was fascinating and unfortunately truly fictionalized. One can only hope that if and when the USA has a true threat, we will work together as well as the team collaborating with Kelly and Tom.

While EMP Honeymoon is an engaging novel and a good read, in my opinion the ending is rather abrupt. I would have liked for the author to sew up the loose ends and questions, but perhaps there will be a follow-up book since this is part of a series. In spite of this one criticism, I am still highly recommending this book, and rate it four out of five stars. The writing is good, the story has a lot of twists and turns, and the book is well edited.

I hope you enjoy EMP Honeymoon as much as I did.
