Dash Harwood, Astrologer to the Stars, can predict the futures of his Hollywood clients based on the occurrences of the solar system. However, he can’t seem to predict his own future, as he gets caught up in a stream of life-threatening predicaments. Dash becomes a target for hitmen sent by an unhappy client, and he merely escapes death. This forces him to move to a small city, taking on the new and more modest identity of Morty Buntz. However, he is forced to move back to Hollywood as his most loyal client and confidante, Sparklynn James, shows up missing. With all of America holding its breath for the musical star, Dash works alongside a famous and vain P.I., Rebecca, as the law enforcement seem to be slacking. In Thomas Collins’ book, Crimeline Hollywood, Dash has to dabble between living two livelihoods, keeping a low profile as he’s on a hit list, finding Sparklynn, and pursuing a potential love interest.

The opening quote caught my immediate attention and is essentially what led me to read the book with eagerness and enthusiasm, and I was not disappointed. There was a great balance between the humour and suspense. I love the fact that the chapters were short and concise. This worked conjointly with the book’s breakneck nature. I mostly loved the individuality of each character.

Even though the story developed well, I feel like the author struggled to bring the story to a resolution, as there were still events unravelling towards the end.

I think this great book deserves a rating of 4 out of 5 stars. It is short of the final star mainly because of the many errors I came across while reading it. Other than that, it was a thrilling and entertaining read. The conflicts and crime in this book added to the realism of the book as it mirrors our world. The suspense kept me engrossed, and the humour made this book all the more refreshing.

This book is for those who love face-paced books filled with action. Those who love mysteries, crime, and suspense would enjoy this book without a doubt. It is best suited for an adult audience as it is quite profane.
