In What the Pet Food Industry is Not Telling You, Dr. Stephanie Krol shares her journey of saving her dog, Winston, a Jack Russell Terrier, whose health deteriorated despite numerous veterinary visits. Faced with a dire prognosis, Krol sought alternative methods, emphasizing the role of proper diet in revitalizing Winston's health. She critiques the pet food industry's lack of nutritious offerings and explores unconventional practices, such as varied feeding schedules that align with a dog’s natural instincts. By challenging standard veterinary practices, including routine vaccinations and chemical treatments, Krol advocates for a more holistic approach to pet care. The book provides practical steps and insights for pet owners seeking to ensure their pets live healthier, longer lives through diet and natural care methods.

I really like this book because of the comprehensive research Dr. Krol has done. She offers a deep dive into the pet food industry and sheds light on alternative pet care practices that I hadn't considered before. Her detailed explanations about the deficiencies in commercial pet food and the benefits of natural diets were eye-opening and made me rethink what I feed my own pets. What truly drew me in, though, was the personal storytelling. The inclusion of Winston's story made the book so much more relatable and engaging. As Dr. Krol shared her emotional journey of saving her beloved dog, I felt a genuine connection to her experiences, which made her advice feel both authentic and trustworthy.

I dislike this book because it focuses almost entirely on dogs, especially Winston. As someone with different pets, I was hoping for broader advice. The principles discussed seem specific to dogs and may not apply well to cats or other animals, which left me disappointed and wanting more inclusive information.

I’ll rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. I’m giving it a high rating because of the comprehensive research and engaging personal storytelling. Dr. Krol’s insights into the pet food industry and her journey with Winston were very impactful. However, I’m deducting a star due to the book’s limited focus on other pets. I recommend it to dog owners and those interested in alternative pet care methods. This book was exceptionally edited.
