A powerful display of science fiction, "Exodus" by Jean Hackensmith and Joseph McDowell presents a perilous but promising look into the future of humanity. The plot follows Earth's citizens and their allied extraterrestrial races as they prepare for the certain annihilation that Ulysses, an object from space, will visit upon them. The only way out is through the wormhole known as Exodus. The afterword hints at the wormhole's true origin and purpose, leaving open the possibility for a truly epic tale across several books. But this novel stands on its own as a serious contemplation of life and death, humanity, and the nature of our souls.

Is a book that scrapes hard and has a gripping pull, making readers want to stay all in as the tension ratchets up and the intricate plotting goes into high art. Paying close attention to every word is a must. The joint effort by a panoply of nations forces you to keep your fingers in the pie of this global potboiler.

The book envisions a cast of characters that feature the resilient and emotion-rich spectrum of human life. Be it the sacrifices and spectacular leadership of President Blades or the guileless of a couple named Garrett and Jennifer, these characters make their way through the narrative of certain extinction and into the reader's own emotional experience. The book is also error-free. Exceptional for a book of such length, but there is one thing that I love is editing of the book that is tremendous. That's why I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

As both the natural and man-made disasters escalate, the urgency of the mission is magnified. The story masterfully draws out the suspense of the mission's imminent launch and keeps the reader on edge in a way that is both natural and satisfying.

But jean Hackensmith and Joseph McDowell "Exodus" is not some cheap attempt at a thrill; it is a fundamentally thoughtful and profoundly human tale that examines with a remarkable degree of insight and depth what it means to be human and what it might mean to no longer be human, while at the same time providing a completely enthralling yarn.
