Kalliope Barlis’ book, ‘Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book’ is a hands-on companion that any golfer can use to upgrade their play at any level. This book is one of the essential elements that need to be in my possession as a player looking forward to enhancing their abilities.

This book stands out because of its brevity and simplicity. Barlis’ words are easy to understand and do not hide behind a lot of meaningless terms. So even if you are new to the game, it will still give some relevant information for improving your performance. Its advice on how to behave during playing time can be grasped in a blink and put into practice without difficulty leading to an increase in the performance of any golfer within a few games.

It was also appreciated that the mental components of golf were emphasized. Barlis emphasizes the significance of mentality and focus, providing exercises and techniques to assist golfers in maintaining composure under pressure. This book adopts a complete method that combines both physical and mental skills, setting it apart from many other golf books that focus primarily on the mechanics of the game.

However, there are a few areas where the book could be improved. While the advice is generally sound, some sections feel a bit repetitive. A more varied presentation of the content could keep the reader more engaged. Additionally, while the book is designed to be a quick reference guide that fits in a golf bag, its compact size means that some topics are only briefly touched upon. Readers looking for in-depth analysis and extensive drills might find the coverage a bit superficial.

The book has good editing overall. The language is clear and accessible, which is crucial for a guidebook of this nature.

Overall, I would rate "Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book" 4 out of 5 stars. It is a handy, user-friendly guide that provides practical tips to improve one's golf game quickly. The focus on mental strategies is particularly commendable and offers a fresh perspective. With a bit more depth, it could easily become a must-have for any golfer's library.
