The book Puffy and the Formidable Foe, written by Marie G. Lepkowski and illustrated by Ann M. Hannon and Margaret B. Hannon, is a short and easy to read children's book about a curious cat named Puffy who leaves it's home to find a rat and on the way makes new discoveries. After all of the adventures, Puffy finds out that there is no place like home. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars.

The book is full of colorful illustrations which will for sure make young kids interested in reading it (or at least just looking at the pictures). And at the end of the book, there is a picture of Puffy that kids can color.

Puffy and the Formidable Foe is not only entertaining but it teaches the kids a lot of life lessons. They can learn new words and expand their vocabulary. It teaches them that it is good to be curious but not to wander around alone and what happens if they run away from home. They can also learn what can happen if they meet a stranger, how they can sometimes get hurt by meeting an unknown person and how Puffy learned a lesson from his encounter with a stranger.

I think that parents will like this book as well because it will teach their kids plenty of important life lessons through a cute and fun story. The book is also a perfect length for a bedtime story. At the very beginning it provides a list that has some ways in which parents and kids can interact while reading. Kids can say what they thought about the story and about Puffy and what he should have done. Or have the kid retell the story in their own words which can improve their creative and thinking skills.

I hadn't read a children's book in years so I was very excited. I found the book very cute and entertaining. It is good to see that there are still plenty of children's books out there, considering the fact that plenty of parents nowadays don't read to their kids.

I think it is important to read to your kids. They can develop many skills while reading, expand their vocabulary, learn, etc. That is why I think this book s perfect for younger audience because the author has turned a cute illustrated book into a fun learning experience for them.
