The elf brief takes us on a fascinating imaginative journey about what actually happens behind the scenes of the deliverance of gifts around the globe on Christmas eve. We specifically see the intense briefing that the new Santa undergoes before he can actually take the trip. A lot of mysteries are unravelled and we see what makes the North pole what it is.

It starts with Noel - an elf from the reference department being summoned to The elf brief which is a meeting where all the department heads inform Santa on the progress and ongoings in their departments. Noel is given a special assignment and winds up unlocking quite a lot of secrets buried deep about the North Pole.

The book is a fantasy book and rightfully so. Themes encompassed include - forged truths and hidden secrets,of which are apparent throughout the book. Another theme would be efficiency and time conservation as well as organization which help the North pole to run smoothly. Environmental manipulation more specifically manipulation of weather and time, is also seen in some parts of the book.

The elf brief is plotted in the North Pole (which cannot easily be located) some few weeks before Christmas until the early hours of Christmas itself where it is Winter all year round. There is also some little change in scenery - Australia, Sydney is another place that some events take place in and here it is summer. On Christmas eve, we see Santa and Noel travel throughout the world in one night even though it is prompt.

I love the fact that it is unlike any other book,a book that talks about elves and Santa but isn't a Christmas book. In fact Christmas only makes it's appearance at the end of the book and only in the wee hours of the day. Also, the fact that the book focuses on the North pole and the outside world is left out depicts the book from many. The concepts are well defined and sentences thoroughly constructed. The book ends with somewhat of a suspense that encourages the reader to go find the sequel.

All fantasy fanatics will love this book. It is so enticing and though I am not much of a fantasy reader, the book had me hooked from the beginning to the end. The book deserves a 3 out of four stars due to the many typing errors but all in all it is an enjoyable book.

I also enjoyed the book.

I agree, that the Author managed to take a over-used theme and put a new, exciting twist to it.
