Review of Opaque
Do you enjoy reading fictional novels with a twist? Opaque by Calix Leigh-Reign is one, as its intriguing story will ensure you are glued to your screen due to the amazing and well-developed characters, interesting storyline and exciting themes of love, betrayal, magic and revenge.
Adam adores and loves his mother, Jo'Ann, with all his heart. At times, he finds himself envying his father when he kisses his mother. When Carly, a new student, arrives at their school, all this changes. Adam constantly finds himself thinking of her. However, they do not start their friendship on the right foot. They become good friends and within a short time, they become a couple. They love each other and Adam constantly confesses to being unable to live without Carly. As their love blossoms, Adam finds out that his father has been cheating on his mother. Angry, he goes to the airport to confront him but ends up fighting him. Unfortunately, he accidentally falls on the curb and several cars trample on him. He was rushed to the hospital. In order to save his life, his parents have to donate blood to him, but they are not a match. With Carly's help, he is determined to uncover the truth once he recovers. What they discover is beyond imaginable.
What I liked the most about the characters was that the author uses well-developed characters. The characters possess different powers, including teleportation, mind reading and aerokinreyis. These made me glued throughout the book, as I wanted to read more and more. I also liked the twists and turns in the book; I kept getting surprised and entertained as events played out completely differently from how I had imagined. This made the reading experience enjoyable. I also liked how the author uses steady and fast paces interchangeably in various scenes. The fast scenes helped to build tension in the plot and I occasionally found my adrenaline high, eager to witness what would happen next. The steady pace helped me calm down and imagine how the actions played out. The reading experience was worthwhile and I will read this book again.
The only thing I liked the least about the book was when the author referred to some characters as animals. I do not understand whether he tried to be humorous or make fun. I found it dehumanizing and patronizing. But this does not make me penalize the book a star because the book's positives outweigh this negative remark. I, therefore, award the novel five out of five stars.
The book is incredibly well edited, since I found no grammatical errors or mistakes throughout my reading experience. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy reading romantic and magical literature. They will enjoy the fights between the villains as they try to figure out who wins the battle.
