Raised in rural New Mexico, John M. Broadhead wrote his first novel, "Zilly's War," inspired by the open desert landscapes where he lived. Now his second novel, "Talking Man", is set in the same universe as his first, and he is working on an epic fantasy series called "Slow World Tales". But he doesn't just write fantasy novels, he also writes poetry and screenplays, and his hobbies include travel, running, hiking, and movies.

"Talking Man" takes us into a world where science fiction and political thriller are mixed, something out of the ordinary that is interesting from the first moment. It is an exciting story about a TV celebrity who has no choice but to travel to the farthest reaches of space, believing that his purpose is only to sincerely communicate what he thinks, as he has been doing for years, but the corporation that took him there has something else in mind. The main character only hopes for a pleasant journey through the universe, to experience an adventure, but not everything can be that simple.

Definitely, this novel is out of the pre-established mold of science fiction, taking us to a futuristic world where the world is facing a complicated disease that is not something out of the ordinary in our times, but this same disease lets us see the reality of the behavior of the corporations that rule the world. If you are expecting to read a novel with laser weapons, spaceships fighting each other, or green beings from other planets trying to conquer your world, this is not the story for you. Instead, if you want to get inside the minds of people like yourself in a futuristic world where political games are key, and you can feel the emotions and weigh the decisions of each character, while still having adventures in space, you'll love this story.

My rating for this novel is 4 out of 5, simply because of the typos. The editing seems to be well done and the pacing of the story is nice, it is not a complicated read and it becomes easy to follow the plot without getting lost.

In conclusion, it is an exciting book, full of action that will not let you get bored at any time. From the very first chapter, it manages to draw you into the story, leaving you wanting to know more and curious to see how it will end. It is a different science fiction novel with political overtones, but it is still full of action and plot twists that will leave you speechless. Definitely a good and unusual read that will leave you wanting more at the end.
