If by Claire Frieze was an amazing read. It was made up of six beautiful stories. The first If was the story of a woman, Anna, who was at the wrong place and at the wrong time which led to different scenarios that play in our minds when we are in trouble. The various questions that begin with if only. The author finished this story with a twist that had me gaping in shock. A Tear for Mrs Job was about a bus ride and two mothers, one elderly and the other young, the fear of living in dangerous times, and faith. The Shadow and the Substance was about premonitions and how they sometimes tend to come true. Dragons and Evil Spirits was a sad story about a woman who ended up in an abusive marriage with no hope in sight. Happily Ever After was a story of how married life can begin with so much joy and hope for the future, but can go downhill when there is hardship and make us horrible versions of ourselves that we cannot recognize anymore. A Brave New World was a scary story of what the aftermath of our world could become if there is another World War and also that reversing the roles of men and women is not the best solution if there is no love, understanding and faith. It is possible that the rodeo will be the same or even worse.

This book was quite a page turner. Different emotions ricocheted through me as I read the various stories. It was a reminder that no matter where we find ourselves, we are all the same underneath our skins. We almost react the same way to situations as humans, regardless of where we are.

I loved how the author wrote each story in an intriguing manner. I loved every page and was not bored at all while reading. I loved how she captured perfectly the way humans tend to react in various situations that I found myself relating to some of the characters. It was really a beautiful book.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars because it does not deserve anything less. There were no negatives and the editing was top notch. The book was simply outstanding!

I recommend this book to all readers. I believe that they will find this book a treasure, but I recommend it most especially for women who feel like their lives have been upended and feel like no one understands. Reading this wonderful book will lead them to discover they are not alone.
