"The Elephant Tooth of '95" by Rana Baydoun takes readers on a poignant journey through memories and familial bonds. I thought it was a touching and thought-provoking narrative for a beginning reader, even though a few places occasionally made the plot hard to understand.
The story's analysis of family dynamics was one of its most appealing features. Because of how emotionally complex and well-developed the relationship between the protagonist and her father was, I could relate to her experiences and exchanges. I found it very charming how the father's affection for elephants served as a metaphor for his happiness and desire to teach life lessons to his daughter. "The Elephant Tooth of '95" is a moving examination of memory and family ties that made a lasting impression on me. Although it could have certain shortcomings, everyone who wants to think about the value of family and the passing of time should read this narrative because of its poignant message and likable characters.
The long lines without punctuation made it difficult for me to follow the plot. The romantic and disappointing aspects of the story seemed a little unbelievable at certain times. It was challenging to understand what it was attempting to say because of rambling sentences, which I recognized. It's very confusing and aggravating how the plot begins in one environment, then jumps to another, and then another.
The novel is also highly inappropriate for conservative people and families because the story characters challenge the idea that a person should only have one partner.
I give it a two out of four since it will be challenging for someone to become thoroughly engrossed in it due to the overall complexity of the story. The narrative is scattered and fragmented.
I give it a 3 out of 5 since it's a book you can read repeatedly on an extended vacation to keep yourself entertained.
