I enjoyed the book. It was a good read. The subject was intriguing, and I was eager to keep turning the pages to see what would happen next. The book is one in a series. When this one ended, I immediately wanted to get the next book in the series, to see what happens.
The story is about a group of students living in a lot of different dimensions, or “Many Worlds”, and how the life of each person varies in each dimension. The chapters go back and forth from one dimension to another, showing the differences in their lives. At one point, the characters discover they can see into their other lives through lucid dreaming. Lucid dreaming is the ability to realize you are in a dream and then be able to control what happens in the dream. The trouble starts when one young man, Gary, negatively controls one of his dreams, thereby affecting all the other dimensions.
Although it was interesting, it was confusing to me when they first described Quantum coherence and superposition. I had a hard time understanding those concepts from the initial explanations. After they described them a few more times in subsequent chapters, I was eventually able to understand the meanings. I wish they had been able to describe them in terms that were easier to understand from the beginning. For that reason, I gave the book a 4 out of 5. Also, I didn’t understand why Gary did the drastic thing that he did in one of his dimensions. It seemed totally out of character for him. I hope it will be explained in another part of the series. Other than those two things, I thought the book was a great story, and it was told in a way that was easy to read and enjoy. I think this book would make a good movie!
There was barely any sexual content in this book. One of the characters was gay, but the only reference was that her mother was a little clueless because she wouldn’t allow her to have boys spend the night, but she was ok with girls spending the night. A little more graphic sexuality was mentioned when one of the characters told Gary that her new boyfriend was described as rough in bed. He enjoyed choking his partner, though the partner didn’t enjoy it at all. Other than that, the book had mostly sweet romances with no intimate descriptions.
I did not find any typos or unintentional grammatical errors in the book. There was some profanity in the book, "dickead" and "bloody idiot."
