The Devil Among Us has the perfect combination of both love and action. It pulls you in from the very first words of the book and continues leaving you wanting more with each chapter. It was hard to put the book down. By itself, The Devil among Us is a great stand-alone book. You don’t have to read the first Laura and Uri book to understand what happened between them all those years ago. The Devil Among Us even makes me want to read the first Laura and Uri book. The shorter chapters make it an easy read. Even though the book talks of massacre and bloodshed with men, woman, and children being harmed, the author makes it so you can still read it without squirming in your seat. I rated this book a 4/5 due to some grammatical and wording errors. The first instance was in chapter 1, page 1 where it states, “Several had commented on the fact that Yehudi’s peous, or side-locks, were growing and so think and curly black.” I would change the wording of this sentence to make it flow better with the words. I had to go back and read this sentence multiple times to make sure I was understanding what it was trying to say. It could say, “Several had commented on the fact that Yehudi’s peous, or side-locks, were growing thick and curly black.” The other error I noticed was in chapter 4, page 12 where it states, “she sat down in the chair next to his bed, leant forward reassuringly, and told him quietly.” I believe the word leant should be changed for leaned. Other than the few wording errors here and there, the author wrote beautifully and had me hanging onto the edge of my seat wanting to know what happened next. I cannot wait to read more books from this author.
